Autumn 2 End of week 1

Date: 6th Nov 2021 @ 8:53am

Welcome back!

Wow! Week one was a very busy week in school.
The week was all about festivals and light.

We learnt about Diwali - The Festival of Lights. The children used clay and lots of jewels to make a Diyas lamp. We listened to traditional music from Diwali festivals and watched some video clips of how people celebrate the festival.

We also made fireworks collages and glitter pictures for Bonfire night. We talked about safety around fires and fireworks, and especially sparklers.
The children made a brilliant rocket collage with Mrs Wilkins. They had to find the letters of their name to create the rocket shape. As usual, so much fun and learning happening in the classroom.

In our Message Centre (Writing area) we were pretending to be the emergency services. We learnt that 999 is the number to call for the police, ambulance and fire service. We talked about which service would help and who should call 999.

Next week's learning will all be related to Remembrance.

Have a lovely weekend. Stay safe
