Design Technology
Design and Technology should provide children with a real life context for learning. At St Joseph’s, we want to allow children to aspire to be more through creating opportunities for them in the wider world. Through the Design Technology curriculum, children should be inspired by engineers, designers, chefs and architects to enable them to create a range of structures, mechanisms, textiles, electrical systems and food products with a real life purpose.
Children will meet the National Curriculum expectations in Design Technology which will be taught by qualified, enthusiastic staff who will support children to develop mastery of concepts and inspire enthusiasm and interest in the subject.
Children will develop a deep understanding of the subjects they are studying. They will increasingly use their prior knowledge to solve problems and develop their ideas.
Children will understand how Catholic virtues and British Values relate to Design Technology.
