Summer 2 - end of week 3

Date: 25th Jun 2022 @ 6:30am

The last week we have been learning all about The Seaside. We have thought about what we would see at the seaside, what we would need to take with us, and what we would wear. The children had a great time making, painting and drawing the things we would see or need to take for a class display. They then wrote labels for each thing they made. The children's writing was very impressive.
Reading in school and phonics is going very well, and the majority of the class can now read to a very good standard, and they know all of the phonemes/sounds that they have been taught.
In Maths we have started to think about paying for things at our Seaside cafe and shop. We are trying to recognise the coins and say how much they are worth.

In RE we are continuing to learn about The Church and knowing that we are the family of God. The children have also made a lovely display of St Joseph’s church and have added a drawing of themselves going to visit.

As always I would like to remind you all of the importance of reading at home. Please read your child's book and sign their yellow reading record. The children love books and reading at school. Our reading area is always open and has lovely cushions and cuddly toys to encourage them to read and share books with their friends. Reading is the key to all learning and I cannot stress enough the part you play at home in your child's reading.

I would also like to remind you that during hot weather it is more important than ever that your child brings in a bottle with water. The bottle can be sent in empty to save it being heavy and we can fill them using our water fountain. The children all know that water or milk are the only options allowed for snack time in school. This is to protect their teeth. The
children also need a sun hat and sun cream in high temperatures, the playground has very little shade at lunchtime.

Have a lovely weekend
