Autumn 2 - End of week 4
Date: 26th Nov 2021 @ 5:46pm
Another week has gone by in a flash.
This week I brought into school a set of drums! They are based in the outside area (as it becomes VERY noisy)! The children have absolutely loved setting up a band on the stage and using the guitar and ukulele also. They have been singing and performing for each other and taking turns on the drums.
We had great fun outside this week, especially after there was a frost. The children discovered that the water tray had frozen and they discovered that holding the ice would melt it.
We are continuing to learn about God's World and God's Family. Next week we will be thinking about animals that live in cold places & how they keep warm.
I have listened to the children read their new books today. They are so proud that they can now read some words. Obviously I am proud of them too & I am sure you all are too.
In our phonics lessons we have a puppet called Fred. He is a frog & he says the sounds and the children have to "Fred Talk" - this is when they say the word that he is sounding out. Eg Fred will say C A T and they will say "cat". In their books I am encouraging them to use their Fred talk to say the sounds they see and then say the word. This is sometimes referred to as blending, and is the first stage of reading.
I am also adding more "Tricky words" to some of the children's books and giving out word cards when they are ready for more. I encourage you to use the videos on the class webpage to help your child to learn the tricky words.
Have a good weekend
