EYFS end of half term
Date: 11th Feb 2022 @ 8:09pm
I can't believe that we have got to the end of the half term. Reception have been so busy for the last two weeks. We have celebrated Chinese New Year - The year of the tiger. The children made tiger masks and Chinese paper lanterns, which they have brought home today. As a class they made a Chinese Dragon and used it to perform a traditional Chinese dance. The home corner was transformed into a Chinese restaurant, where the children wrote down orders for food and pretended to cook, they tried using chopsticks to pick up pretend noodles.
This week has been Children's Mental Health week. We had themed days throughout the week-
Mindful Monday
Talk about it Tuesday
Wellbeing Wednesday
Thoughtful Thursday
Feel good Friday
We did yoga, mindful colouring, listened to relaxing music as we played, we talked about what makes us happy and sad & how we can help others to be happy, we made a card for people we love (they are in your child's bag) & today we had a disco and danced to make us all happy. It was a very successful week and the children benefitted so much.
I have sent home a list of green and red words for your child to learn to read over the holiday. Please remember that there are videos on my class webpage to help to learn the words. Under the home learning heading/tabs there are a range of number games etc that could be used also.
As always I encourage you to read stories with your children and talk about what happens. The CBeebies iPlayer has an excellent library of stories to listen to also.
Have a lovely holiday. Keep safe and I will see you all very soon.
Take care
Mrs Buckley
