Getting changed for PE
Date: 16th Mar 2020 @ 3:59pm
As you may notice, today we had PE.
It is a requirement in the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum that children dress and undress independently.
•Encourage children in their efforts to do up buttons, pour a drink, and manipulate objects in their play, e.g. ‘Can you put the dolly’s arm in the coat?’ This statement is from the 22-36 month band of the curriculum.
All children in Reception are now in the 40-60 month band and so they have to do up buttons by themselves.
I noticed today that several children cannot undo and do up buttons, they are unsure of which clothes to put on first, ie shirt before tie or jumper, and if an item of clothing is inside out they do not know what to do.
As I am sure you are aware, getting one child dressed in the morning is tricky, I have 17 in the class and so it is very important that they learn to do this as soon as possible at home.
I appreciate your support in this and I will be giving out DOJO pionts for the children who can be independent.
